Curriculum Planning
Curriculum Planning documents should enable schools to translate curriculum policy statements into practice, achieving a consistency of approach and organisation to ensure continuity and progression. Planning should take into account long, medium and short term perspectives. The QCA schemes of work offer long and medium term planning.
Short term planning
based on the long and medium term planning, teachers can plan for their own year group or class. Individual teachers' schemes of work should include:
- Preparation required for the lesson
- Resources
- Learning objectives
- Technical Vocabulary
- Assessment
- Activities and organisation of the introduction, main activity and plenary sessions
- Homework (if applicable)
Sample lesson plan proformas for use in the classroom have been created and can be downloaded or printed from this site. A separate zip file is also available to download which, when executed, will unzip all of the files to your hard disc.
